About us
Our bookshop
The Ancient Books Dealer Scriptorium, based in Mantua since 1995, sells ancient and precious books and prints dating back to 16th century and up to present days. We sell any kind of ancient and rare book but especially Italian local history books, books about the history of Italian cities and villages from Alps to Sicily.
We also sell picture books, books printed in the 16th century by famous printers, scientific, architecture, travel, arts, literature, natural science, medicine books, precious bindings, first editions of the beginning of the 20th century, ornamental prints and maps, etc.

Ancient Books Dealer
Our main activity is buying and selling books, but we also do expertises, evaluations on single books or whole libraries, estimates and we guarantee our clients the greatest professionalism and confidentiality. We’re members of ALAI (Associazione Librai Antiquari Italia www.alai.it ), counting 100 members in Italy; this organization regroups and represents the best Italian ancient books dealers, promoting the culture of ancient books.
Periodically our Bookstore does a patient work of research and cataloguing and publishes paper catalogues for the sale of ancient books. They’re given for free to those who ask for them.
In partnership with the association “Il Frontespizio”, Scriptorium is the organizer and promoter of the Exhibition and Sale of Ancient Books and Prints taking place since 1975 twice a year in Mantua (May and September).
We always welcome clients, friends and books lovers, but only by appointment.
